Haggis (my wonderful juggling husband) and I went to Aceh first in March and April 2006. We were travelling to Australia anyway (paying our own tickets, obviously) so decided that we should detour to Aceh and see if we could run a Tour there, having run very successful post-tsunami Tours in Sri Lanka and Thailand.

We arrived in Aceh with no contacts at all - but were incredibly fortunate in making links with 2 excellent NGO's out here - Muslim Aid and Yayasan Lamjabat, who set up gigs for us. We managed to run 25 shows and quite a few workshops and games sessions. The children and their families are so much in need of some fun - and they absolutely loved what we did. They begged us to come back and we were determined to return as soon as we could - so we flew out of England again on Boxing Day 2006..........
